Original rifle chambered in: Model 99 Savage

Bullet weight (grain): 75,85,87,100,110,115,117,120

Country used in: USA

Muzzle velocity (fps): 3000fps w/ 87gr bullet, 2800fps w/ 100gr bullet

Factory Loadings: Remington & Winchester

Hunting usefulness: Whitetail deer on down

My thoughts: I have shot Remington and Winchester factory loads and reloaded Speer and Hornady bullets, all of which shot well out of my Model 99. The 100gr bullet seam a perfect fit for the short case. Recoil is mild, even in the light Model 99. The 100gr Hornady made quick work on a deer that I shot this fall. Expansion was perfect; hitting a rib dead on, it still left the other side leaving a quarter size hole, one of my favorite calibers.
